The US Ambassador in Denmark, Alan Leventhal, visited Aalborg University (AAU) on Tuesday, February 27th.

During his visit, the ambassador was introduced to the AAU Smart Production Lab and the AAU Mars/Lunar Lab by Associate Professor Simon Bøgh from the Department of Materials and Production. Afterwards, Professor Helle Zacho from the Department of Clinical Research gave a presentation to the ambassador about her research. She is the first in Denmark to experiment with a new radioactive tracer called FAPI, which - if it lives up to expectations - could become a new super weapon for cancer detection.

Alan Leventhal concluded his visit with a debate with students at the Department of Politics and Society and Rasmus Antoft, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (SSH).

The students had prepared sharp questions for the ambassador, and in the debate they touched on highly topical issues such as the war in Ukraine, the war between Israel and Hamas, the US relationship with Greenland and the ambassador's view on what Denmark and the US can mutually learn from each other.
