Shirts, ties and colourful dresses were brought out on the occasion of the annual University Party on Friday, 4 April at Aalborg Congress and Culture Centre. Staff and students turned up in large numbers and followed the red carpet to an evening that offered good food and music.

Rector Per Michael Johansen delivered a welcome address with gratitude for the great support for the University Party:

You are all essential to this university, and I’m very happy to see so many of you here tonight,” he said.

Under a starry spring sky, there was laughter and talk among colleagues. Guests could immortalize the evening in a photo booth, and after dinner could also hit the dance floor to names like The Heat, Mina Okabe and Rakkerpak.

AAU Update was there for the festivities where a handful of the evening's guests talked to us about what they were particularly looking forward to.

Why are you at the university party?

Dagmar: I'm at the party to have a good time with my colleagues. In addition, I work with many different departments at the university on a daily basis, so I’m also looking forward to partying with colleagues from other units.

Massimo: Because I took part in the anniversary last year where I had a fun time with good food, a good atmosphere and good music. So I’ve been looking forward to doing it again this year with my research group.

Johanne: The party is a good opportunity to do something with my colleagues outside the office and to see people I know from other departments. It gives us something to talk about and laugh with each other about.

Johannes: In my 30 years at Aalborg University, this is the first university party I’m attending because tonight my wife, who also works at AAU, and I have come together.

Berit: It’s a tradition that creates fellowship among colleagues and partners in other units at the university.

What are you most looking forward to during tonight's celebration of the university?

Dagmar: I'm looking forward to talking to a lot of people, enjoying delicious food and drinks – and then I'm going to bring some colleagues in front of the stage so we can dance and have fun.

Massimo: I’m looking forward to feeling the atmosphere and being with my colleagues in a more relaxed setting. But right now I'm probably most looking forward to the food, because I'm pretty hungry.

Johanne: I'm most looking forward to having a good time with good colleagues.

Johannes: I'm most looking forward to enjoying good food with my wife.

Berit: The music, which I read up on before, and being with colleagues, because we are going to dance and have a nice evening together.
