The aim of the talentprogramme is to develop participants’ research competences and bring groundbreaking, creative research ideas to maturity. In addition, the programme will include competence development in areas such as prestigious research grants, preparation of scientific applications, research management and media training. The programme will also include mentoring, building a scientific network and exclusive meetings with top international researchers and representatives from scientific foundations.

Thus, AAU Excellence will upgrade participants' research and management skills as well as increase their success rate in research breakthroughs and acquisition of prestigious research grants.

Enhancing competitiveness

"AAU must contribute to solving the major societal challenges, and this poses new, special demands for research competences. We are also experiencing increased international competition for the talented researchers of the future. Therefore, as a university, we must be able to attract, develop and retain the best talented researchers, and AAU Excellence will help to ensure this", says Dean Lars Hvilsted Rasmussen, the Executive Manager in charge of AAU Excellence.

Special target group

The research talent programme is aimed at the most talented early career researchers with up to five years seniority with PhD. Applicants must be employed at AAU. External parties may apply for admission to the talent programme if they have an AAU employment contract at the time of admission.
