The process will begin on Monday 16 December when AAU advertises the position of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. Lars Hvilsted will continue as dean in 2025 until a new dean takes office.

The Faculty of Medicine recently inaugurated its beautiful new physical setting that was built along with the new super hospital. Starting next year, the faculty will increase its student intake by almost 40 percent more medical students (70 new students), and the acquisition of external research funding in 2024 has already surpassed the previous years. Finally, the faculty has continuously increased the proportion of research articles in prestigious journals.

Dean Lars Hvilsted has been employed since March 2015, and his fixed-term contract therefore expired this year. The contract was extended to ensure continuity when moving into the new buildings, focus on the task of securing more medical students, and to ensure a continued seamless collaboration with the North Denmark Region.

These things have taken place, and therefore the university is now initiating a recruitment process for a new dean.
