Innovation and entrepreneurship are the driving forces behind the programme, Spin-outs Denmark, that has helped 55 researchers pave the way for future spin-outs. Twelve of them originate from research at Aalborg University and now the project has won the award, Impact of the Year 2025.

With the programme, all eight of Denmark's universities collaborate to assist new researchers with targeted feedback in business development and financial support so they can make the leap from idea to business. The European organization ASTP therefore recognized them with the award for creating an initiative that can change society through research.

"At Aalborg University, we work purposefully to ensure that our knowledge does not remain at the university, but creates real value in society. This award is a strong recognition of the collaboration, innovation and work that we and our partners do every day," says Mads Bang, Innovation Director, AAU Innovation.

Spin-outs Denmark has been helping researchers since 2021 and has received funding from the VILLUM FOUNDATION to create companies out of research and create competitive innovation in Europe.
