It appears that the timing of the advertisement for the new pro-rector position for research over Christmas and New Year’s meant that the appointment committee did not receive the expected number of applicants. Therefore, the university is now extending the application deadline to 20 April. At the same time, the recruitment agency Genitor, in conjunction with the recruitment committee, will identify potential candidates for the position.

The new process means that a new pro-rector can hopefully take up their position this summer.

The aim of a pro-rector for research is to strengthen the university's strategic focus on research and the acquisition of external funding. At the same time, it allows the rector to have more time for internal dialogue with the research and education environments and to devote more energy to international collaboration which is expected to become more important in the coming years.
