Title
“Secure Electronic Voting System Adoption: Ghana as a Case Study”

Abstract
The Ph.D. thesis investigated the various challenges in the electoral process in developing countries and how an electronic voting system based on a blockchain could be adopted to improve the process. Blockchain technology is an evolutionary technology that has affected various sectors worldwide; however, its uses in the design of electronic voting systems have not been fully explored. In this Ph.D. thesis, Samuel developed an electronic voting system adoption model and further researched various blockchain technologies, and designed a secured electronic voting system that provides trust, security, transparency, and auditability. The blockchain-based electronic voting design frameworks include remote internet voting, poll-site voting, and result collation system.

The outcome of this study has a significant impact on the Electoral processes and the Electoral Authorities, Political Parties, and Government who may intend to adopt the electronic voting system in elections. Furthermore, the electronic voting system adoption model can serve as a blueprint for the adoption of technological innovation in an organization. Similarly, the blockchain-based electronic voting design frameworks can serve as an inspiration for the use of blockchains in national elections and will provide initial requirement specifications to any agency that desires to implement such a system.
